So, as you may or may not know NSW has been having a lot of rain recently. Fortunately for us we don't live in the Northern Rivers area, where they have had the worst floods in living memory - but we have had days and endless days of rain.
Well I didn't think too much of this until recently, apart from it being gloomy and soggy, However when my partner decided it was time to finish the gyprocking the Storeroom where I keep my paintings, that was when the awful truth came to light! As we took the paintings out I noticed that unfortunately, on the back of some of them, there was mould, mouldy spots!! This is a disaster and so far I'm having to destroy fifteen to twenty paintings and that is possibly, only the tip of the iceberg!
Feeling very depressed I wondered what a solution might be. Eventually I had the bright idea of giving these works away for the price of the stretcher bars which I can salvage as regrettably the paintings are unsaleable in their current condition. It has been a mammoth job this week, having to re catalogue everything and sort out all the damaged from undamaged works and then start shrink wrapping all those still OK, to hopefully avoid the same thing happening again in the future.
So if you live in the area drop by the studio and see if there is something that takes your fancy. Those paintings that no one wants will find their way to the tip eventually - :( I would rather they go to someone who will appreciate them, than that they end up in the garbage - which seems a sad end to a colourful life!
